Indians manager Terry Francona comments on Jason Kipnis’ status for Opening Day

This past Sunday Indians beat writer for Cleveland.com Paul Hoynes reported that Jason Kipnis will not be ready for Opening Day because of a right shoulder strain.

On Monday, Indians reporter for MLB.com Jordan Bastian reported that if Kipnis isn’t ready for Opening Day that the plan is to keep Jose Ramirez at third base and the organization will have to think about the second base situation.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona had this to say about the options for second base if Kipnis is not ready for Opening Day.

Erik Gonzalez is in the lineup today playing second base against the Chicago White Sox in Spring Training play. With the news about Kipnis being out, Gonzalez can be the possible replacement for Kipnis on Opening Day.
