The entire Browns family is in mourning today after the tragic death early on Wednesday morning of the girlfriend of Browns defensive end Chris Smith.
Petara Cordero was struck and killed early Wednesday morning on I-90 after Smith and her pulled over their 2019 Lamborghini after a tire issue.
At that point a a woman who told Cleveland police she had been drinking veered to the right side of it driving a Mazda, hitting not only the passenger side doors, but also hitting Cordero.
She was taken to Fairview Hospital and pronounced dead.
The passing of Smith’s girlfriend comes just four weeks after she gave birth to the couple’s first child, Haven Harris Smith.
“Words cannot describe the sorrow we feel for Chris following the loss of his girlfriend, Petara,” Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement.
“Our entire organization mourns with Chris, his family and the Cordero family. We will do everything possible to offer them our support, comfort and any resources in this most difficult time.”
Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Smith and Cordero family.
