College Betting Lines for Week One

Notre Dame vs. Texas
Notre Dame -3.5

Both teams have QB problems so expect a lower scoring struggle more than anything. Overall Notre Dame has more talent on its roster than Texas does. The Irish have faced some distractions this offseason with off the field player problems but that shouldn’t be enough to make them lose this. Texas has been bad for a while and Notre Dame should go in and come away with a victory.

Ole Miss vs. Florida State
Florida State -4.5

Speaking of facing distractions, a whole bunch of sanctions are probably coming to Ole Miss in the future. The team lost a lot of talent to last year’s draft but what they still have is one of the better QBs in college football in Chad Kelly. While he can keep them in it, Florida State also has a dangerous weapon in RB Dalvin Cook. Cook can be on the Heisman list and will get a lot of carries with a redshirt freshman starting at QB for the Seminoles.

Clemson vs. Auburn
Clemson -7.5

Going into Auburn and winning the first game of the year isn’t an easy task but neither is stopping the Clemson offense. Deshaun Watson is the early frontrunner for the number one overall pick in the 2017 draft and the Tigers have other starters on the offense that can join him in the first round. Auburn does not have the same fire power to match on offense and while the defense can keep it from being a blowout they aren’t good enough to keep Clemson from winning handily.

Georgia Tech vs. Boston College
Georgia Tech -3

Both teams had pretty disappointing seasons last year. This one will be another low scorer as Boston College defense was one of the best in college football last year. Despite only allowing 15 points per game, the team won only three games because the offense was so abysmal. Georgia Tech offers a tricky matchup due to the triple threat option. If they can control the tempo of the game and control of the ball they should get the win.

Western Michigan vs. Northwestern
Northwestern -5

Western Michigan should be the favorite to win the MAC this year so getting a win over Northwestern wouldn’t be a surprise. The Broncos have one of the better WRs in college football in Corey Davis but lost Daniel Braverman. Northwestern plays well against non-Big Ten opponents and the defense should make it a close game. I like Northwestern to come out by a slim margin but enough to cover.

Northern Illinois vs. Wyoming
Northern Illinois -10

Northern Illinois has been a MAC powerhouse for some time now. Going to a two win Wyoming team should not be on its list of games to worry about. A 10 point spread is too low and Northern will easily take this week one game.

Last NCAAF Season: 42-31
