How the Browns Treat the Draft and Free Agency Could Point to How Good or Bad 2018 Will Be

About making an early prediction for the Browns win total for 2018. I’ve heard people say Cleveland should get to 6 or 8 wins. I do laugh when I hear that. Remember, they still have to play twice against Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincinnati. Next, they host the Falcons, Panthers Chiefs, Chargers and Jets. New York is the weakest of those teams. On top of that, they travel to Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Oakland, Denver and Houston. As of right now, I don’t see Cleveland winning more than three games. Four at the most. And if Cleveland starts out 0-4, Hue Jackson will be looking for a new job.

Here is a final thought, and it’s a crazy thought at that.

I’m starting to think that maybe the Browns are actually playing their cards right, when it comes to timing and winning. Did I enjoy going through and 0-16 season? Absolutely not. But think about this for a minute. Pittsburgh, for as good of a team as they are, have simply not been able to get the job done. The Steelers have a hard time playing the Patriots. Tom Brady looks to keep playing for another two or three seasons.

Are there any teams that will be able to get past this New England dynasty? Maybe not until Brady and company retire and move on. That would then make the AFC wide open all of the sudden. Cleveland could start building now, and once New England’s run is over, the Browns could be ready, loaded and be able to strike for a while. I’m not saying it’s going to work that way, but right now, it seems that New England is to the NFL, what Golden State is to the NBA. Again, I wish 0-16 would’ve never happened, but the Browns could have a shot in three or so years, IF IF, they make more moves for the better, then wrong moves.

I told you it was a crazy thought. But, a thought nonetheless.
