Indians Activate RHP Tommy Hunter from 15-Day Disabled List

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2016 Major League roster:

Activated RHP TOMMY HUNTER from the 15-day Disabled List.

Designated LHP ROSS DETWILER for Assignment.

Hunter, 29, began the 2016 season on the 15-day Disabled List rehabbing from off-season core-muscle surgery.

He began a rehabilitation assignment in Triple-A Columbus on April 10, going 1-1 with a save and a 1.00 ERA in 8 games/2 starts (9.0IP, 7H, 1R/ER, 0BB, 4K, .212 avg) while limiting right-handed hitters to a .176 (3-17) average against.

Hunter was signed as a free agent by Cleveland to a one-year contract on February 12.

The addition of Hunter should help to bolster the bullpen and because the Tribe called up Kyle Crockett earlier this week, they will still have a lefty in the pen, despite designating Detwiler for assignment.
