Saint Edward to Face Saint Ignatius for Cleveland Cup Championship

The Saint Edward Eagles advanced to the GLHL Cleveland Cup Final, earning a 3-1 victory over the University Preppers on Friday, Feb. 10.

It was an even start to the game, as both sides were deadlocked at one after one period of play. Josh Tomasi put the Eagles on the board in the first, but University’s JD Clemens answered back.

After a scoreless second, the Eagles pulled away in the third, thanks to a clutch goal from Danny McGuire with 13:54 to play. Curtis Szelesta scored an empty-netter with 12 seconds left to finish the job.

Goaltender Andrew Stewart made 27 saves in the win.

The Eagles will face rival Saint Ignatius Saturday, Feb. 11 in the Cleveland Cup Championship at 7 pm.
