Report: Browns Won’t Give an Extension to WR Terrelle Pryor By the End of the Season

If there’s one player Browns fans have been clamoring for the team to get under contract for next season, it’s wide out Terrelle Pryor, who has played as hard as anyone on the team this season despite not winning a game.

Pryor has a team-high 63 catches for 853 yards and four scores, and has garnered respect around the league, despite what loud mouth cornerbacks like Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones and Giants cover man Janoris Jenkins have to say.

The wide out though doesn’t appear like he’s going to be set in stone with the brown and orange for next season, as Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports today a deal for Pryor won’t be coming by the end of the year, making him a free agent come March.

They’ve had talks with Pryor’s agents, Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, and some have even taken place here in Cleveland. But with only three games left, it’s unlikely to happen until after the season.

If the two sides can’t reach an agreement by the start of the new league year on March 9th, the Browns can always franchise Pryor and buy themselves more time. The franchise number for receivers in 2016 was almost $15 million, and that number will climb to almost $16 million by March.

The Browns will do themselves no favors with their fan base if they decide to let Pryor walk after the season he’s put in with a team that is maybe the worst in franchise history.

Week after week on Twitter fans are becoming more and more anxious about inking Pryor, and this latest news is surely to tick off fans that want the former Ohio State Buckeye to return in 2017.
