Just one of those nights Cavs Lifeless In Loss to the Blazers

Cleveland Oh. – In a game the Cavs were up by 16 in the second quarter, the Portland Trailblazers came back and beat the Cavs 103-95. “It’s a bad loss” was said multiple times after the game by Donavan Mitchell. And it was.

Coming in, the Blazers had won 5 games. The Blazers were giving up 111 points per game. And yet, they held the Cavs to just 95 points, Mitchell scored 23 and Evan Mobley scored 20. that was the highlight of the game for the Cavs. It really was just an ugly game which led to fans booing.

Coach JB Bickerstaff told us that the Cavs “didn’t do enough to sustain the lead.” Evan Mobley said the mood was “down in the locker room afterward, but we will keep moving forward.” It was just an ugly loss all around.

So where do we go from here? The Cavs are going on the road to play the Pistons on Saturday. It’s another game they should win. Then they play the Magic at home before going and playing on the road, the Heat, Magic, Celtics (in a baseball series) before coming home to play the Hawks. This is a stretch where the Cavs will have to be focused and learn to come together. The Cavs are 10-9, and at a point in the season where we can’t keep saying “its early”. These are winnable games, and this team has to start playing like a team that wants to compete for a championship.

Mitchell said “I know this will be a turning point. It’s a loss that stings, but I know we’ll be fine This is probably the worst of the season but… Let’s go.”

The Cavs will have to start picking up wins here. It’s not time to start panicking yet… but… it is time to start looking at what can be done. Fans booing in the 19th game of the year because the team lacked effort? Not good. Losing to a team that had 5 wins coming in? Not good. Can it be fixed? Yes. Absolutely. But the time is now. Hopefully, this is the wakeup call needed. Because there can’t be too many more bad losses like this.
