Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

The lines are rolling out early this week with a lot of Thanksgiving NFL games and Friday college ones.

NCAAF:

Navy vs. Houston
Houston -1

Navy does one thing very well and that’s run the football. They are still one of the few teams that run the option constantly and rarely throw a pass. Houston was looking to be on its way to a big bowl game before losing to Connecticut. Houston’s run defense ranks 12th in the country. They are also 9th in points scored. If those ring true, then I like Houston to hold Navy’s offense in check and be able to win.

Iowa vs. Nebraska
Iowa -2

Either people are way higher on Nebraska than I am or they are confident that these top teams playing Nebraska are going to trip up. Iowa is 11-0. They are one of two undefeated teams remaining. I think they are so on a mission to prove the country they belong that they are not going to be tripped up by Nebraska. Nebraska doesn’t even have a winning record. I have no reason to against Iowa this week.

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech
Georgia -5

Georgia Tech fell off the bandwagon early and then done nothing after upsetting Florida State. Georgia has had to deal with a lot of injuries and did just escape with a victory over a really good Georgia Southern team last week. If there is one consistent thing in the SEC it’s good defense. Georgia’s defense has to shut down the run game of Georgia Tech and they will get the rivalry win.

Duke vs. Wake Forest
Duke -4

Duke has hit hard times of late. They had several players kicked off the team including a starting wide receiver. They were also cost a victory by a terrible referee crew and have lost four straight. This is their chance to save some of their season because they were a good team. They play a 3-8 Wake Forest team. I know Duke is reeling, but they are the much better team in this game.

Middle Tennessee vs. Texas San Antonio
Middle Tennessee -12

If you haven’t watched any of Conference USA this year, take note. They have a lot of great teams that will be major players in the bowl games that will surprise people. Middle Tennessee is one of those teams. They are led by QB Brent Stockstill and are towards the top of the country in passing. Texas San Antonio is 113th in the country against the pass. They are also 3-8 on the year with no quality wins and a loss to North Texas. I like Middle Tennessee big.

Florida State vs. Florida
Florida State -2.5

Florida has gone downhill since having QB Will Grier suspended for PEDs. The last three games they beat Vandy 9-7, South Carolina 24-14, and Florida Atlantic 20-14 in OT. That is awful for a top 15 team. Florida State is the better team here by a lot. I think Florida State has no problems winning.
