Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NFL:

MIA vs. BUF
MIA +3
I like the Dolphins here. The Bills get Tyrod Taylor back which is huge because they don’t have to deal with EJ Manuel anymore. The biggest problem with the Bills is all the injuries and their defense. For as talented as the defense is, they have yet to play great. Miami’s offense has looked much better lately and they can come in a get a big road victory.

JAC vs. NYJ
JAC +7.5
Jacksonville isn’t the better team but we also know that the Jets quarterbacks are not healthy. It could be a day to lean on Chris Ivory and the run game as Jacksonville isn’t the strongest against the run. Jacksonville has done pretty well passing the ball though which is good since the Jets run defense is among the best in the NFL. If Bortles can solve the defense than the Jaguars may not only cover the spread but possibly win.

OAK vs. PIT

PIT -4.5
The Steelers lost LeVeon Bell for the year which is a huge blow. The good news though is they still have Deangelo Williams who looks like his Panthers days about three years ago. The Raiders are a tough team to judge. They are young and have been up and down on the year but they are definitely improving and are more than capable of making the playoffs. The difference in this game is Ben Roethlisberger. He gets the job done time and time again. He should have gotten most of the rust off last week and I expect a bounce back from him this week.

NYG vs. TB

NYG -2.5
You have to feel a little bad for Eli Manning when he had the performance he did last week and they still lost. Tampa Bay is not as good offensively as New Orleans and is worse defensively. I don’t expect him to put up the same numbers as last week but I expect another big day. If the Giants defense does anything than the NFC East may remain in their control for another week.

ATL vs. SF
ATL -7.5
The 49ers may be without Carlos Hyde again. Oh yeah Blaine Gabbert is also making his return. I don’t care how bad Atlanta has played recently you don’t lost to Blaine Gabbert. Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones get ideal matchups with this one. The 49ers may have to clear house after the whooping that might be coming their way.

DEN vs. IND
Over 45
I’m going with my first over/under in a while. These are always harder to pick in my mind than the spread. Denver finally looked alive against Green Bay but the Packers defense has been abysmal for two weeks in a row. Andrew Luck has been capable of putting up points quick for the Colts or for the opposing team this year. Either way it benefits going over. I believe both teams can average 23 points. Why not take the chance on the 4:25 game with a big audience watching.
