Hoban Senior Rachel Chessar Reaches 1,000 Career Points

Senior Rachel Chessar reached the 1,000 career point mark on Monday night in Akron Archbishop Hoban’s 59-52 win over Holy Name (5-7, 2-4), becoming the fifth player in school history to achieve the milestone.

Chessar scored a game-high 25 points in the win, helping the Knights go on a 22-4 run in the third quarter.

Emma Tecca scored 16 points and Lonasia Brewer added 10.

Hoban improves to 6-5 overall on the season and is 2-1 in North Coast Blue Division play.

The Knights have now won four of their last five games and return to action on Saturday afternoon at home for a pivotal match against Padua (10-1, 3-0).

NEO Sports Insiders will be covering the clash between the top two teams in the NCL.

The game will feature some of the region’s star players (two members of the 1,000 point club) and also includes a meeting between former-Hoban Assistant Coach Dan Brown (now Head Coach at Padua) against his old team and Head Coach Scott Callaghan.

Tip-off is set for 2:30 pm on Jan. 14.
