On the strength of 5 pins and 4 forfeits the wrestling Demons defeated Fairview in their home opener, 54-18.
After Cole Yuhas (106) and Hatem Zayed (113) received forfeit to open the match and give the Demons a 12-0 lead, the Warriors reeled off three straight wins to cut the gap to 12-9.
Aidan Ashburn received a forfeit at 138 and it was 18-9. Another decision and pin by the Warriors tied the match 18-18 but the Demons put the match away with 4 successive pins by Liam Kruger (160), Hunter Ashburn (170), Moe Zayed (182) and Connor Gregory (195). Gavin Carmichael(220) and Adam Abuan (Hvy) both received forfeits to make the final 54-18.
The varsity team will travel to the Bellevue Tournament SAturday at 9 am while the JV’s will be at Olmsted Falls JV tournament at 9 am. The team returns home next week and opens SWC action hosting Amherst in the WAC at 7 pm.
