Could Corey Kluber Be Back With the Indians in 2021?

If you donated your Indians Corey Kluber merchandise after the team traded him to the Texas Rangers last year, you might want to go see if you can get it back.

The Indians are going to be one of a number of teams that will be in attendance today when Kluber puts on a throwing session in Florida, looking to make his way back to a Major League roster.

2020 was a tough year for Kluber, as he was the opening day starter for the Rangers, only to last one inning before having to leave the game due to tearing a small muscle in his right shoulder.

He never pitched again for the Rangers, leaving the future of the 34-year-old ever taking the mound again in serious doubt.

The Indians though are in the business of trying to find a bargain, and they know all too well the grit and determination that Kluber has shown over the years when he won a pair of Cy Young awards for the Tribe.

With the team last week trading Carlos Carrasco, the team could use a pitcher at the back end of their rotation, or there’s even a chance that Kluber could be one of the new arms in the team’s bullpen.

The last time Indians fans saw Kluber he suffered a fractured arm on a comebacker in early 2019.

He worked his way back, but was stopped due to an abdominal injury while rehabbing the arm injury, and then the team eventually traded him to the Rangers.

It will be interesting to see if Kluber has anything left in the tank, and if there’s enough of a desire on both sides part to want to see if there’s any magic left in bringing him back.
