Cavs Begin Tournament Portion of Summer League Wednesday Against Celtics

Five days of this year’s Samsung NBA Summer League are in the books. All 24 participating teams competed in three preliminary seeding games, which started July 8th.

After defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night for their first win (81-75), the Cleveland Cavaliers (1-2) have played their way to a 14th seed in this year’s summer league.

Cleveland’s first bout of this year’s summer league tournament will be played inside The Thomas & Mack Center against the Boston Celtics at 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

Teams seeded 9-24 are set to play (today) on Wednesday, July 13. Winners will advance to play on Thursday, July 14, against teams seeded 1-8, who’ve earned a first-round bye. Losers of games played on Wednesday or Thursday will play a consolation game on Friday, July 15.

On Saturday, July 16th, remaining teams will play in a four-game Championship tournament. This year’s winner will be crowned on Monday, July 18.

ESPN and NBA TV will have coverage of the remaining 31 games. ESPN2 and ESPNU have the broadcasting rights to the championship rounds (July 16 – July 18). Fans can also catch the action live on ESPN3 or WatchESPN.

    14th seed. Ouch! Until you realize Boston is listed as 19th seed. A person would think with all those picks that Boston would be up there in seeding. Go Cavs!
