2017 Record: 8-16 (4-14 SWC)
How is this seasons team different than last season’s? Experience. At one point of last season, we were starting 6 sophomores around the infield. That experience should hopefully pay off as those sophomore continue to mature into their junior season.
What are your team’s strengths? Front-end pitching. We are returning pitchers who accounted for 6 of our 8 wins last season. We are also returning pitchers who accounted for 99% of our innings pitched. Hopefully, those pitchers continue to grow and provide us with quality starts this season. Senior leadership. We have 5 seniors this year and hopefully, that leadership will guide the younger players.
What are your team’s weaknesses? Offense is definitely our weakness. Ability to generate runs consistently.
How does the conference landscape look? Who are the teams to beat in your conference? The SWC is top heavy with Amherst and Avon being the teams to beat.
Who are the key leaders on your team?
Senior P Sam Guercio: Sam has been a pitcher for us for 3 seasons. Definitely the ace of our staff
Senior OF Cole Wagner: Really made the jump talent wise over the summer and looks to lead us offensively.
Senior OF Anthony Novak: Anthony has played for us for 3 full seasons and part of a fourth. Hopefully makes the jump to help us win an SWC title.
