Barberton Magics Girls’ Basketball Team Stays Magical, With a 3-0 Start To the Season

By Eli Dobben

It was a blackout at the Lady Magics basketball game, however there was nothing black about the the score as the Barberton Magics girls’ basketball team got another win.

Barberton was taking on the Indians of Copley to stay undefeated. Both teams played very well from start to finish. Barberton was led by two seniors, Macey Ries and Jenna Kelley.

Kelley scored a total of 14 points, and Ries scored a total of 10 points in the game. When head varsity coach Greg Whitmer was asked about about Kelley and her performance, he simply said, “She knows what to do, and she is a leader and captain for us.”

As for Cople,y they were just not able to score a lot on offense.

“We just couldn’t get our offense running at all in the first half, that is why we lost the way we did,” head coach Mark Dente said.

Even though Copley lost the game they had four players who put up some points. The first players were Page Brenner and Emma Brown who both scored a total of six points.

The second was Alexis Heap who finished the game with a total of seven points, and the last player was Maya Elias who finished the game with eight points. Even with all these points they scored they still found themselves on the wrong side of of the scoreboard, as the Magics whizzed past them by a total score of 46-32.
