On September 10, 2016, the UFC put on a massive Pay Per View entitled UFC 203 live from Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena. It was a massive success and instant sellout as 19,000 people packed the Quicken Loans Arena to see home town boy Stipe Miocic knock out Alistair Overeem in the main event. Dana White said it was one of the greatest shows in UFC history, yet, they have not been back since.
The best chance of the UFC ever returning to Quicken Loans Arena was Stipe Miocic staying on top of the Heavyweight Division as champion. As of late last night, that plan is now over and it may be a very long time before the largest fight promotion in the world ever returns to the shores of Lake Erie.
To add salt to the wound, the UFC released their rest of 2018 event schedule, and Cleveland is nowhere to be found. The rest of July and August had already been announced prior to this and Cleveland was not on the list of cities to host and event. It didn’t get any better when this came out.
The closest the UFC came to Cleveland in 2018 was Chicago last month. Other then that, they haven’t been within a 7 hour drive all year. 2017 was decent, with events in Detroit, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. No such luck in 2018. You can see the full schedule below.
Are we coming to your part of the ??
