Munch Musings from E. 53rd and Hamm Avenue

Here we go…it’s been a minute for Munch Musings from E. 53rd Street and Hamm Avenue. Let’s talk the Ohio State Buckeyes!

I must remind you that I have an unhealthy disdain for the team up north. I’m trying to rein that in a bit especially in this joyous holiday season and yes some comments reflecting this feeling will surface during these musings!

We know the result of last Saturday’s game at the “little shack” vs ttun, a dominating 27-9 Ohio State Football victory. I shared with many that I was calm before this game and when the first u of m play, a 36-yard rush to the Buckeyes 39-yard line happened, I tensed up just a bit! I also knew that Underwood was a subpar QB vs good teams and even border line good teams plus the Buckeyes had the D to make him play Quarterback in order to win the game. Now after a stalled drive ttun settled for a FG and not even 3 minutes in OSU was down 3-0. We know what happened next! Julian Sayin threw a pick on his second pass, and the maize and blue heathens were in business again. YES INDEED I thought out loud “my gosh, does Sayin have the yips?” Well think about this…after the pick ttun got down to the OSU 7 and Underwood was forced to throw again on 3rd and 6 from the OSU 7 and it was another incomplete pass. Yup, another FG was good, and the Buckeyes were down 6-0. Point of interest: in the next 55 minutes and 22 seconds the u of m only scored 3 points, and the last FG came with 6:17 left in the half.

OSU was relentless on O and D the rest of the game. A TD with :16 left in the half was special and at 17-9 the Scarlet and Gray dogs on offense and defense would be turned loose the rest of the game as OHIO STATE manhandled a classless team in maize and blue.

Classless? Let me count the ways…A Head Coach leading his team out of the tunnel screaming and yelling, an edge rusher making contact with an official (who by the way was not ejected!) and constant squawking from u of m players, especially DB’s, who were turned into the college versions of Elvis Patterson or Greg Newsome and they were toasted time and time again. OH, and ttun players getting tossed around by OSU blockers whether they were O Linemen or TE’s! It was actually humorous to watch and no doubt these full of themselves players embarrassed their school and proved again that this game is civilized man vs Huns and Philistines. Ok, I’ll throw knuckle draggers in there too. Even more laughable was the ttun players defending their logo when the Buckeyes just wanted to celebrate with their faithful in the stands.

What else made me smile? Did I mention DOMINATION earlier?

– The #1 recruit at QB Underwood was 8 of 13 for 63 yards and a pick (Buckeyes had 2 more potentials but could not hang on) plus they rushed for 100 yards on 24 carries and 36 of these came on the first play of the game.

– Sayin threw TDs to his top three WR’s including a TD pass with :16 seconds left in the half. Oh yeah, Sayin is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN!

– Back up to Smith’s 35-yard TD on 4TH DOWN! 4th down and BOOM! WOW!

– Tate had a 50-yard TD and better yet these TDs came against the u of m DB’s who were silenced from their trick bag punk trash talking. BACK UP FELLAS…you no Macks, just Street Pimps!

– How about a Buckeye 20 play drive that ate 12 minutes off the clock in the 4th? That was punishing football at its best.

-After the pick, Sayin was 0-2 and finished the game like a true champion and leader going 19 for 24! Also, Julian was 6-6 for 68 yards and 2 TDs on 3rd and 4th downs in the first half!

– I can go on and on…OSU’s D and O lines nullifying any signs of life in the opposition, OSU’s TD’s blocking with a purpose, Back picking up blitzers, LB’s negating any and all offense the wolverines tried to muster.

– Big shout out to BRUTUS! Not only crossing out the “M” in the end zone but making a script OHIO in the snow and dotting the “I”!

Something else I must note…I do have some dear friends who have played for ttun. They are all good men and class acts. I also have buds who support that team, made excuses for the cheating and (not) surprisingly are still doing a “Harry Houdini” and have disappeared.

Yes the Ohio State Buckeyes still have some business to handle. There is no doubt they are able to repeat as National Champs. It is never a gimme and not easy, but they have the goods. HOW FIRM THY FRIENDSHIP…OHIO!!
