Bellator 172 is tonight and due to illness, Fedor Emelianenko and Matt Mitrione will not main event the card. Instead, Josh Thomson and Patricky Freire will headline this evening’s card. Even with the loss of the heavyweight clash, the card still has some exciting names to watch.
Without further ado, here are my picks for tonight’s Bellator 172 card:
Josh Koscheck vs. Mauricio Alonso- I think tonight will be one of those fights for Koscheck where his wrestling is just unstoppable. He’ll have his way with Alonso for most of this fight.
Winner: Josh Koscheck via Unanimous Decision
Cheick Kongo vs. Oli Thompson– Kongo has found his stride in Bellator, though at age 41 I wonder how long he will be a presence in the cage. Thompson hasn’t been much of a success lately and I think that continues here, as Kongo makes a statement in the middle of this fight.
Winner: Cheick Kongo via Second-Round Knockout
Josh Thomson vs. Patricky Freire– Thomson is always fun to watch and comes out to impress every fight. Friere is looking to make a big splash with this upset and for some reason, I feel like he does.
Winner: Patricky Freire via First-Round Knockout
