José Ramírez’s agent weighs in on the All-Star’s new 7-year, $175M extension

Ahead of Spring Training with the Cleveland Guardians, star third baseman José Ramírez has agreed to a new 7-year contract extension, solidifying his place as a cornerstone of the franchise. This deal not only rewards Ramírez for his outstanding performance but also signals the Guardians’ commitment to building a competitive team around their All-Star infielder.

The 7-year deal will keep Ramírez in Cleveland through the 2032 season, including several years beyond his previous contract’s expiration. Speaking of loyalty, this deal vastly underpays Ramírez at $25 million per year. He could easily command double that however he truly wants to stay in Cleveland. Social media started buzzing as the news of Ramírez’s extension was released. The conversation turned towards the star third baseman’s agent Rafa Nieves – poking fun and saying he must be disappointed in losing out on money that Ramírez could have brought in. Nieves weighed in X and shut down that theory.
