Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

NCAAF:

Texas vs. Baylor
Texas +20.5

This one the spread is too much for me to not take Texas. Baylor is in a free fall now having to go down to their third string QB who they had to revert back to QB from WR. Against TCU last week Johnson was 7 of 24 for 62 yards with one touchdown and interception. I know the weather wasn’t ideal but neither was his play. Baylor will run exclusively in this game. Baylor also doesn’t play defense so Texas should hang around for this one.

Michigan State vs. Iowa
Michigan State -3.5

No disrespect to Iowa, but Michigan State is the better team. They have now beat Michigan and Ohio State plus some impressive non-conference wins against Oregon and Air Force. They put a thrashing on Penn State last week too. Iowa has been that blue collar team that has gotten the job done week in and out with wins over Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Pitt. Michigan State and Cook are the reason I’m going to go with them. Winner of this game will see the playoffs.

North Carolina vs. Clemson
North Carolina +5

I thought this spread would be a little bigger than that but I like North Carolina to win this straight up and cause pandemonium. The Tar Heels have now reeled off 11 straight victories and the only weakness on that team is the run defense. Clemson has looked a little shaky the last couple weeks with close victories over Syracuse and South Carolina who just lost to The Citadel. Something is just telling me Clemson is due for a loss and no unbeaten will remain after the week is over.
