Call 911. Smudge some sage. Whatever it takes to light a fire to Cleveland’s offense. The bats are so silent that it’s deafening. Aside from Jose Ramirez, there isn’t much consistency at the plate. Carlos Santana and Steven Kwan can provide a spark. However, the team as a whole are averaging under four runs a game.

What’s the issue? Are analytics proving to hinder the bats of Kyle Manzardo and Daniel Schneemann? These two often sit against left-handed pitching. That decision leaves fans scratching their heads and clamoring to put them in, coach. It’s a debate that I talked about with Kenny Lofton at this year’s Greater Cleveland Sports Awards. Lofton believes analytics have changed the game since he played.

Playing guys consistently is one theory that could pump some life into the lineup. Another is bringing up some prospects to try and jump start the bats. Two names that fans and some analysts want to see in Cleveland are C.J. Kayfus and Chase DeLauter. Kayfus is batting .325 with 34 RBI. DeLauter holds a .271 batting average and 15 RBI. Both of these guys are exciting prospects and are playing well in the minors. The thing to remember is that doesn’t guarantee an immediate transition to the big stage. Some would argue it’s a worthwhile gamble due to the almost nonexistent offense that the Guardians are currently experiencing. Or to really put a crazy spin on things some sources are claiming the Guardians should bring back Josh Naylor. Yes, you read that right.
The Guardians host Toronto Tuesday for the first series of the homestand. It’s extremely hot in Cleveland let’s hope that heats up the bats for the Guards.
