Speculation Goes National About the Chances of Carmelo Anthony Going to the Cavs

When Cavs guard JR Smith liked a picture on Instagram on Tuesday that showed Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony wearing a Cavs jersey, right away people jumped on the bandwagon that the wine and gold should make a push for Anthony.

Today NJ.com speculated on the rumor of Anthony to Cleveland, noting that there’s no doubt that Carmelo to the Cavs would be an upgrade for the team.

After years of rumors connecting Carmelo Anthony to LeBron James, the friends could finally play together as quickly as next season through an unconventional route: The Knicks buying out Anthony’s deal and cutting ties with nothing in return.

While the idea may seem hard to imagine, Stefan Bondy of the Daily News talked to an Eastern Conference executive that believes we’re heading toward the Knicks having to buy out Anthony to get him to leave New York.

Also today, ESPN jumped on the rumor mill about Anthony, with Stephen A. Smith and the crew from ‘First Take’ giving their two cents on the issue.
