2023 WWE Royal Rumble Preview and Predictions

This is by far my favorite WWE premium live show, and this year’s edition should not disappoint! Below are match previews along with my prediction of who will win and why. Let’s do this shall we?

  1. Bray Wyatt vs LA Knight in the Mountain Dew Pitch Black match: What is a Pitch Black match you ask? Great question! This is the very first (and last?) match of the kind, and they have done nothing to explain anything regarding how this match will work. Regardless how the match will work, I would be purely shocked if Wyatt doesn’t win this match after the months of buildup. LA Knight deserves better than to be just fed to Wyatt, but hopefully they will let him bounce back in a big way. Winner: Bray Wyatt

  1. Bianca Belair vs Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship: If I am being honest, this match doesn’t deserve to be on such a big stage as the Rumble. It is more suited for an episode of Raw. The build to this match has really been nothing but showing Alexa Bliss is slowly changing back to her Bray Wyatt wannabe persona from a year or so ago. Belair should easily win this, unless Wyatt or even his brother Uncle Howdy distracts Belair long enough for Bliss to win. Either way, this is a match you can skip. Go use the restroom or make a sandwich instead. Winner: Bianca Belair (Yawn)

  1. 30 Women Royal Rumble Match:  As of this writing, there have only been a handful on ladies that have been confirmed as entrants, so this year could be a big year for surprises including past legends and even some NXT entries. This year’s match is wide open as far as possible winners go. Mainly because the ladies division is ice cold in my opinion and need something HUGE to shake things up and make things better. For that reason, I think they will go with something boring instead. Winner: Ronda Rousey

  1. Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: So many stories leading up to this match which makes it the match of the night in my opinion. Will Sami Zayn help the Tribal Chief hold on to the titles, cementing his position in The Bloodline? Will Zayn actively try to help his best friend Kevin Owens win, but fail, leading to a major beatdown by his Bloodline brothers? Either way, I see this show being the last of Zayn in The Bloodline since things have been leading to his eventual ouster, which sets up many possible matches against any Bloodline member. No matter what, I see no way that Reigns loses the titles before WrestleMania. Winner: Roman Reigns

  1. 30 Man Royal Rumble Match: The match we’ve all been waiting for. Some big names already announced as entrants are Austin Theory, Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Sheamus. One big name that is returning though is Cody Rhodes who has been out for months due to a torn pec muscle. The WWE has been touting his return so much that it is hard to see him not winning this match and going on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. In my opinion, the only way Rhodes does not win, is if the rumors are true and Roman Reigns’ cousin The Rock is a surprise entrant. If indeed The Rock is entered, then it is a forgone conclusion that the main event at Mania will be Rock vs Reigns for the Undisputed Championship. My pick? Winner: The Rock!
