WWE Backlash Preview and Staff Predictions

Up first is the Ladies Dream, the Men’s Nightmare, the one, the only, Payton Vince!

Tye Dillinger vs Aiden English

Dillinger wins.

The Perfect 10 has not got that much time as you would have expected since his call-up to the main roster. I see Tye winning and this will not be a squash match expect the match to go 5-6 minutes.

Luke Harper vs Erick Rowan

Harper wins via DQ.

Harper and Rowan are two former Wyatt Family members that have been at each other’s throats since Bray left them and Rowan is forced to be on his own. I see Rowan striking Harper with a weapon (possibly chair or maybe stairs) which would give Harper the victory. Harper winning via DQ just means that this feud can continue on.

Baron Corbin vs Sami Zayn

Zayn wins

Sami Zayn needs the victory in my opinion. Corbin is a big enough force on the SmackDown Live brand that a loss would not hurt him. Corbin could go back on Tuesday or following the match he can attack Zayn to get his retribution. Zayn needs the victory here so that he can have more credibility and possibly head up the ranks and maybe compete for the WWE Championship.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Dolph Ziggler

Nakamura wins

Shinsuke has not wrestled on the SmackDown brand since he has made his debut. This is the first time in a long time that the WWE has held off on a superstar making their debut and making the debut match special. Nakamura has to go over here in my opinion because with all the buzz surrounding him a loss would hurt him.

With Ziggler’s selling ability he makes this match phenomenal and can make the Kinshasa look devastating. Ziggler can afford to lose here also, this will not be the end of Ziggler and Nakamura it is only the beginning.

Naomi, Charlotte & Becky Lynch vs Natalya, Tamina & Carmella

Natalya, Tamina & Carmella victorious

The Welcoming Committee has been a force and is a fantastic women’s stable. I only see the Committee getting stronger because I can see Charlotte Flair turning on Becky Lynch and Naomi and joining them. Following the Charlotte turn, it gives her a reason to compete for the SD Live Women’s Championship.

Naomi would be wanting revenge on Charlotte and would be willing to put her Women’s Championship on the line. If this is the case it gives fans a break from seeing Charlotte compete for a women’s championship for a bit if they hold off long enough.

Kevin Owens {C} vs AJ Styles for United States Title

Owens wins and retains

Kevin Owens gets to defend the United States Championship for the first time on the SmackDown brand. AJ Styles in the meantime gets an opportunity to compete for his first secondary title. Kevin Owens retains his championship with a roll up and has a handful of tights.

Also in this match look for Owens to be in the Calf Crusher and get a rope break with only just a tip of his finger (similar to what happened when he was in the Walls of Jericho).

The Uso’s {C} vs Breezango for the Tag Title

Breezango win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Did this catch you by surprise?! The Usos have been tag champions since March and I think this Sunday might be the last time they will be tag champs in this reign. Breezango has become a great babyface duo and fans seem to enjoy the Fashion Files (Law & Order Rip-Off) and have let the duo show off more of their comedy side. Breezango gets a brief reign as tag champion up until the Hype Bros come back together and defeat them for their long awaited tag team match-up (Hype Bros number 1 contenders since Zack Ryder hurt his knee).

Randy Orton {c} vs Jinder Mahal for the WWE Heavyweight Championship

Randy Orton wins and retains.

Orton retains the championship here but I think that Mahal still walks out with the WWE Championship. Orton wins this match and hits an RKO on Mahal but this is following the ejection of the Singh Brothers. Mahal quickly gets up from the Orton RKO and steals the WWE Championship and forces Orton to give him another opportunity at the WWE Championship.

I don’t see Mahal winning the championship just yet and with the win Mahal has the excuse of his moral support of the Singh Brothers getting kicked out influencing the outcome of that match. Plus Mahal gets heat for stealing the WWE Championship once again and forces the champion to give him another match.
