Weekend Racing Schedule, April 7th through April 9th

Yet again Mother Nature has played a role in the early part of the 2017 racing season. Here is what we know so far about the weekend schedule.  Atomic Speedway and Midway Speedway have both moved their shows to Sunday in an attempt to dry out their respective grounds. Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta has moved its show from Friday to Saturday.

Mansfield Motor Speedway: Round 3 of the Triple Crown Series that was scheduled for this Saturday has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 13th. Last week’s racing; the second round of the Triple Crown Series has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 16th.

Saturday:

Legendary Hilltop Speedway (Marietta, Ohio): Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Mini Wedges

Sunday:

Midway Speedway (Crooksville, Ohio): Late Models (Jim Dunn Qualifier), Modifieds, Sport Mods, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders

Kil-Kare Raceway is set to open Sunday. The facility, which closed in October 2014 will once again feature racing on the paved 3/8 mile oval. The Xenia, Ohio facility features the paved oval and a quarter-mile dragstrip. Though drag racing continued at the complex in 2015, the 2017 season is the first time the oval will be in use since 2014. A test and tune is planned for the dragstrip on Saturday.

Show To See

I’m trying to avoid the same track in consecutive weeks but I can’t do it this week. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions visit Ohio for the first time this season Sunday when they visit Atomic Speedway. That’s my pick. The event is also co-sanctioned with the Ohio Sprint Car Series.

The All Stars have been idle since their last sanctioned event on February 16th in Florida. General admission gates are slated to open at 3 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 5 p.m.
