UFC sold to WME/IMG for 4 Billion

UFC – Breaking news, the UFC has been sold to WME/IMG for 4 Billion Dollars. Dana White will stay on as president and mouthpiece of the company.

So who is WME/IMG?

The company was founded in April 2009, after the merger of the William Morris Agency and the Endeavor Agency. WME represents artists across all media platforms, specifically movies, television, music, theatre, digital and publishing. The company is run by Co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell.

WME has several subsidiary companies and expanded divisions. Fortune named Co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell to their 2010 “Businessperson of the Year” list, acknowledging their corporate growth strategies.

On January 21, 2015, it was announced that WME had acquired Global eSports Management (GEM), an international agency representing various esports and professional video game players and personalities. That was the first big sign that they were a front runner to purchase the UFC.

Current UFC owners the Fertitta Brothers did have one last huge pay day this weekend with the incredible financial success of UFC 200.
