UFC 226: Three Reasons Why Daniel Cormier Is The Toughest Opponent Of Stipe Miocic’s Career

1 – Daniel Cormier has never lost at Heavyweight in his MMA career.

Cormier is 20-1-1 in his MMA career, with the first 13 of those wins coming at 265 pounds.  He was always outsized by his opponents but it never stopped him from mowing them all down. At heavyweight he beat such luminaries as Frank Mir, Josh Barnett, Antonio Silva, Roy Nelson and several others.  Not only did he beat all of them, but he didn’t even lose a round.

Cormier was also the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion and the King of the Cage Heavyweight Champion.  He very easily could have been UFC Heavyweight champion as early as June of 2015 but chose not to fight teammate Cain Velasquez who was champion at the time.  He actually did his team and the UFC a giant favor by dropping down to Light Heavyweight and struggling mightily to make weight each time at 205 pounds.

This is far from 145 pound Conner McGregor trying his hand at 170, or even boxing.  This jump up is a world Cormier is very well familiar with, he is not just scratching an itch.
