PREVIEW: Indians look to hand Red Sox their fourth straight loss behind Carrasco

2) Greg Allen providing a spark

A month ago the Indians were in desperate need of an outfielder that could provide some offense and acquired one at the trade deadline in Leonys Martin. Then came that extremely troubling bacterial infection that landed Martin in the hospital battling for his life. Good news is he’s alright, but with no timetable for his return to baseball, Cleveland needed someone to step up. Enter, Greg Allen.

Since being recalled from Columbus on August 9, Allen has provided a major spark for the Tribe. In 12 games this month, Allen has a slashline of .375/.907/.475, has 15 total hits and has driven in six. Both of his two extra base hits this month a double and a home run have come against the Red Sox this week, as have three of his RBI. Just as the Indians hoped, Allen has filled the role of everyday center fielder beautiful of late and it’s not a coincidence that they’re 10-2 since he joined the roster.

Oh, his defense has also been something special. Check out this pair of web gems from last night…
