NEO Round Table Triple Threat Extreme Rules recap

NEWARK, New Jersey – The WWE put on their annual Extreme Rules PPV tonight, here are the results and thoughts from our round table of Eli Mooneyham, Vince McKee and Payton Vince.

Dolph Ziggler is defeated byBaron Corbin

Vince – Not sure why yet again this was on the pre show and not the main card. If you’re trying to get Baron Corbin some main exposure, this is not a good idea.

Payton – NO COMMENT

Eli – Pretty good match. This had to happen in order to have Corbin become a staple of the New Era

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) retain the titles over The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch)

Vince – It was smart to include Woods in some in ring action in a big win! I still believe firmly that in time The Vaudevillains will be great one day, just not yet.

Payton -It was a good match. Seemed like The Vaudevillians were going to win. Match had plenty of near falls. Can’t get over the fact how much I love Woods boots still. Big E with the suicide spear is fantastic , love that move.

Eli -Scared me for a moment there, as it looked like English and Gotch were going to steal this one and take the titles. Ok, I can relax as The New Day keep the belts.

Charlotte retains the Women’s title over Natalya

Vince – Charlotte is one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in WWE, she can do it all in the ring. She shows this every time out. The only problem is, she keeps having to cheat to win, so it gets overshadowed at times, but still helps her heel status!

Payton – Snooze. Match was rough to watch. Biggest part was Dana Brooke coming out as “Ric Flair”

Eli – So, Natalya loses….not a shocker. But, Dana Brooke joining forces with The Flairs? I don’t understand that.

Rusev submits Kalisto to win the US Championship

Vince – The writing is already on the walls that this will be a short reign, until Cena comes back next week and takes the title off of him. Also confirms the rumor, Kalisto may need some time off to heel injuries.

Payton – I didn’t think Kalisto was going to lose it tonight. Rusev’s Accolade looked super rough on Kalisto. Ouch.

Eli – Right move to have Rusev win the belt, but is Kalisto okay? My goodness. I didn’t think you would have to break him in half to win the title. Shows that Kalisto doesn’t give up easily and that Rusev will do whatever it takes to win.

The Miz retains IC Title over Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Sami Zayn

Vince – Best match of the night by far! All four of these guys really showed me something. Kevin Owens re-affirmed he is one of the best in the business.

Payton -This was definitely in the top three for matches of the night. Unpredictable and it appeared The Miz was going to drop the Intercontinental Championship but didn’t. Zayn and Owens will obviously continue their feud next month at Money in the Bank. Cesaro and Miz will probably have another match next month.

Eli -Do I feel mad because The Miz retained? No, because that match was awesome!

Dean Ambrose pins Chris Jericho

Vince – The match had its issues, perhaps the biggest was having to follow the incredible IC match. I would imagine we have seen the last of Jericho for this year. Time for his Summer hiatus to tour with Fozzy.

Payton -Asylum match…it didn’t disappoint. All the weapons were used besides Mitch the potted plant. The Thumbtacks were an amazing spot and the fact Ambrose fell on them when he hit Dirty Deeds was great. Probably number 1 match of the night.

Eli -Thumbtacks in a PG-Era?!?! Match was fantastic, as Ambrose keeps on proving he is a top contender and Jericho will probably go tour with Fozzy pretty soon.

The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso) get pinned and destroyed by The Club Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows

Vince – The Bullet Club are great heals, but the second they won this match, you knew any chance AJ had at winning went right out the window.

Payton -Predictable!

Eli – Honestly, Gallows and Anderson needed the win to get on the right track. Very hard to do so with the story-line they are stuck in right now.

Roman Reigns defeats AJ Styles to The World Heavyweight Championship

Vince – I was just thinking how WWE Extreme Rules was nearly identical to WWE Payback when Rollins came down to surprise Reigns with a beatdown. The WWE would be smart to keep Rollins in the main event picture for awhile and keep him as a face. As for Styles, he nearly dropped a grenade on Reigns and couldn’t defeat him. His squashing will continue tomorrow with another loss to someone, and then it will be followed up by The Bullet Club turning on him.

Payton -This match was extreme. Probably number 2 on the night. I hate the fact Styles hits all of his signature moves and Reigns kicks out. Great moment to close the show was Seth Rollins coming out and him hitting the Pedigree on Reigns. Curious to see what direction they go on RAW. I think Triple Threat between Styles, Rollins, and Reigns at Money in the Bank.

Eli -Great match, with a bunch of crazy moments. SETH ROLLINS IS BACK!!!!!!
