Indians Promote Pitcher Adam Plutko from AAA; Designate Reliever Neil Ramirez

The Indians today announced they have called up Adam Plutko to start this afternoon’s 4:10pm game against the Orioles.

To make room on the roster, the team has designated righty reliever Neil Ramirez for assignment.

In 16 games this season Ramirez is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. He allowed 10 earned runs in 16.2 innings. Last season in 47 games he carried an ERA of 4.54.

Plutko began the season on the Triple-A Columbus Disabled List with a right forearm strain and recently made two starts for the Clippers, going 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA (6ER/5.1IP).

In his most recent start for Columbus vs. Syracuse, he allowed just 1 run on 2 hits over 5.0 innings (67 pitches).

With Plutko making the start today, it will allow the team to put Shane Bieber on the mound Sunday with an extra day of rest.
