FLASHBACK: Reviewing all 12 Prior Backlash Main Events!

2009 Double Main event saw Edge defeating World Heavyweight Champion John Cena in a Last Man Standing match to win the title and Randy Orton winning the WWE Championship in a Six-Man Tag Team match pitting champion Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon against The Legacy (Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase).

It was a solid double main event that controlled most of the card.  Edge used a villainous attack by the Big Show to distract Cena long enough to capture the gold.  Legacy helped Orton defeat HHH to secure the title.  It would be the last time HHH would hold the gold for a very long time, as shortly after this, he became a part time performer, and a brief reformation of DX.

Elsewhere on the card it was Jeff Hardy defeating Matt Hardy in an excellent “I Quit Match”.  Shortly after that, Hardy would use the momentum to capture the World Heavyweight Championship title from Edge and then begin a feud with CM Punk.  Hardy would then leave the WWE later on that summer.
