2007 John Cena (c) defeated Randy Orton, Edge, and Shawn Michaels
A familiar trend was in full force in case you haven’t noticed it yet. The current champion who wins the main event at WrestleMania, gets to go over in the Backlash main event as well. This was the fifth straight year they followed this winning format.
In another version of strange ego based booking, it was Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon and Umaga defeating Bobby Lashley to capture the ECW championship. Again, a strange choice, compete with Mr. McMahon wearing a “doo rag”.
The best match of the card was clearly the Last Man Standing match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Champion the Undertaker and Challenger Batista. The match would end in a no contest as both men beat the hell out of each other, and couldn’t answer the bell.
