Five Takeaways From Sunday Night’s WWE “Payback” PPV

1. Braun Strowman’s Major Push to the Top a Bright Spot

Many WWE fans wondered if the companies desire to make Braun Strowman a monster heel was going to work, and months into the development the answer is a resounding yes.

Strowman has the ability to not only get over with his look, but also with his in-ring ability, and for the first time in a PPV main event I felt he was the star in his match against a ‘beat up’ Roman Reigns.

There’s no question that the WWE decision makers have huge plans for Strowman, including a heavyweight title run at some point down the road.

Many that have watched the product the last few months have to admit that the Strowman vs Reigns feud has been one of the highlights, and while there was a break for the Roman vs Undertaker WrestleMania feud, it’s good to see the company go back to it now that Maina is over.

I think moving forward you are going to see variations of Strowman, Brock Lesnar and Reigns go at it in some form or fashion.

Right now it wouldn’t be a shock to see Brock defend the title vs Strowman at SummerSlam, and the way that the company is pushing Braun, it’s very believable that Strowman is going to give Brock a run for the money for the belt.
