Five Takeaways from Sunday Night’s WWE Extreme Rules

5. Miz Continues to be a Main Event Player

The Miz defeated Dean Ambrose for the WWE IC belt in the opener of the card, a match where if Ambrose got DQ’ed he would lose the belt.

Of course that added some interesting aspects to the match, but overall it was a well put together match that ended with a kind of cheap finish as Ambrose had to fight off getting DQ’ed but in the end got caught in Miz’s finisher to take the loss.

Over and over Miz steps up and makes even lackluster matches look good, and one of the great moves by the company was bringing back his real life wife Mayrse and making them a team.

It’s given his character much needed depth, and also having him as the ‘Hollywood’ heel has paid off in a big way.

The big rumor is that Miz will enter a program with Roman Reigns, which should make for a fun summer feud.
