What a way to kick off the weekend for MMA fans, as former Bellator Champion Eddie Alvarez silences the critics by defeating Rafael dos Anjos to claim the UFC Lightweight Championship.
As for the fight, not much to say other than hats off to Alvarez. He just exposed RDA in front of everyone watching.
Alvarez completely outfought dos Anjos from beginning to end. A flurry of punches started off the fight strong for Alvarez, who had RDA seeing stars early. After Alvarez attempted to hit a flying knee, dos Anjos fell on top with no clue where he was. Alvarez worked back to his feet to finish the fight in the first round and claim his title.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your new UFC Lightweight Champion of the world…Eddie Alvarez. He surely didn’t disappoint.
