Cleveland’s Own Stipe Miocic Looks To Bring Home The UFC Heavyweight Championship At UFC 198 Saturday Night

What a time to be a Cleveland fan! The Lake Erie Monsters and Cleveland Cavaliers are in the Playoffs, but there is one more contender that can bring home the gold for his hometown.

Stipe Miocic is in Curitiba, Brazil for the biggest fight of his life. Miocic looks to bring home the UFC Heavyweight Championship tonight. It will not be easy, as he goes against the current champion Fabricio Werdum, who is backed by his home country tonight.

Werdum won the title in a fight against Cain Velazquez, where Werdum submitted Velazquez via guillotine in the Third Round. Will rust become a factor for Werdum, who hasn’t defended his title yet and hasn’t fought since UFC 188 in June of 2015.

Stipe is known for his power, which has shown in his last two fights against Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski. After two impressive knockout finishes in his last two fights, Miocic was fired up and let UFC President Dana White know that he wanted his shot. Here is a link to the post-fight interview after his win over Andrei Arlovski at UFC 195.

Miocic is hungry for this title shot and Dana White could not refuse to have this fight. Can Stipe bring it home? Everyone in Cleveland believes that he will.
