What Will Betfred Ohio Offer Ohio Sports Fans

Betfred Sportsbook recently received conditional approval to be one of the possible 25 online sportsbooks to launch in The Buckeye State. Having secured a partnership with the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio bettors will surely be curious about the UK-founded sportsbook.

What will Betfred Sportsbook offer Ohio sports fans? Here’s what to expect from the global sportsbook brand.

Global Recognition and Decades of Experience

Betfred has been in business since 1967 when it opened its first betting shop in Salford, UK. There are now more than 1,600 Betfred shops globally as well as an online casino business in the UK and Spain.

While its US expansion was slow initially, Betfred’s mobile sportsbook is available in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, and Pennsylvania with Ohio and Louisiana launching in the near future. Betfred also operates a retail sportsbook in Washington state with a location in Las Vegas expected to open soon.

The partnership with the Bengals won’t be Betfred’s first professional US sports relationship, either. Betfred currently has multi-year agreements with MLB’s Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos.

Strong Ongoing Promos

The one area where Betfred really shines compared to other online sportsbooks is with its ongoing promotions for existing customers. You can always find several boosted odds every day and the offerings are especially strong and diverse when several sports are in season at the same time. Here were some ‘Betfred Boosts’ available on Oct. 12:

  • Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish both to have over 4.5 strikeouts, boosted from +145 to +170
  • Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers both win, boosted from +170 to +200
  • David Montgomery to have more than 14.5 receiving yards and Commanders win, boosted from +255 to +280

Betfred isn’t the only sportsbook to offer boosted odds and special lines, however, as that is becoming a more common feature in the industry. Caesars, for example, also does a good job of offering boosted odds on a daily basis.

Some other examples of Betfred’s ongoing promotions available on Oct. 12 included NFL overtime insurance, PGA bet and get offers, and boosted parlay payouts.

Where Betfred Can Improve

The main area where Betfred falls behind the top online sportsbooks is in its welcome offer. Betfred’s current sportsbook bonus in Arizona, Iowa, and Colorado is a ‘bet and get’ bonus where new users will get $250 in free bets for placing a $50 wager.

This is a much higher deposit requirement than sportsbooks with more brand recognition like DraftKings and BetMGM. Part of DraftKings’ new user offer is a $50 free bet for simply depositing $5, no wager required.

FanDuel Ohio has taken it a step further and is offering a pre-launch bonus of $100 in free bets for just signing up prior to Ohio’s universal sports betting launch date on Jan. 1, 2023. Some of the other sportsbooks mentioned here will be announcing pre-launch offers in the coming weeks as well.

If Betfred wants to gain a meaningful market share in Ohio, the sportsbook will need to up the ante regarding its new user offer, especially with its competitors giving free bets for just opening an account.
