10 Questions and Findings Following UFC 200

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – It was a great night of fights as expected. Not to brag, but this reporter was skilled / lucky enough to pick 8 of 12 matches correct. However, I don’t know how many people had Nunes beating Tate in the main event. To be fair, I’m sure someone picked it, but it certainly wasn’t me. All that aside, the UFC 200 did bring about 10 questions and observations that now need to be answered.

1. What’s next for Brock Lesnar? It is clear that both Vince McMahon and Dana White are okay with him performing for both organizations. His WWE schedule is certaintly light enough for him to fight about 3 times a year in the UFC. Was this just Brock scratching and itch, or is he back in the UFC for good?

2. The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title has become a hot potato after years of dominance with Ronda Rousey. Will Nunes bring stability back to the division, or she is just a placeholder until Rousey returns in the fall?

3. Is Anderson Silva done? He looked like a shell of himself on Saturday night. The Vegas crowd cheering him wildly made no sense as he barely put on a show. It became clear quickly that he was simply there for a paycheck on 3 days notice.

4. What is wrong with Johny Hendricks? Not only did he lose his second consecutive match and third in his last 4 trips into the Octagon. But he also missed weight, this leads to numerous questions about his heart and desire after his very brief Welterweight Championship reign.

5. TJ Dillashaw needs to get the next title shot, a rematch for him with UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominic Cruz. It makes no sense why he hasn’t gotten it yet, after his dominant win over Raphael Assuncao Saturday night, there should be no questions about it, he is the number one contender!

6. If Conor McGregor never again fights in the featherweight division, will Jose Aldo’s title be stripped of its interim status, and just be called the “Featherweight Championship?”

7. Diego Sanchez needs to retire, or greatly altar his style. Sanchez has long been one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC because of his direct attack style and ability to wage wars in the cage. Sadly, it looks as though too many blows have finally caught up to him. You can also insert Takanori Gomi’s name in this paragraph, and all the facts and points remain the same. Both men, made need to call it quits and live a long healthy life while they still can.

8. Sage Northcutt barely got past Enrique Marin in a slim decision win. Perhaps this guy is not nearly as good as the hype tried to make him out to be?

9. Julianna Pena is for real. I’m happy to have called the upset with her over Cat Zingano. If Nunes doesn’t want to wait around for a Rousey to return, her first title defense needs to be against Pena.

10. So yeah, after Cain Velasquezs destruction over Travis Browne, pretty safe to say he is back and better than ever! Stipe or Overeem better watch out!
