World Of Outlaws Back In Ohio For Big Week Of Racing

Dirt sprint car fans will be coming to Ohio this weekend for four big nights of racing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.  Tuesday night Attica Raceway Park will host the Ohio Logistics Brady Doty Classic. Following Tuesday night’s show, race teams and fans will make the 135 mile trip south to Eldora Speedway for three nights of racing. The Jokers Wild on Thursday, Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday and the Kings Royal on Saturday.

The Brad Doty Classic is a premier event on the dirt sprint car slate. The annual event pays homage to one of the best to ever get into a sprint car. Following a crash at Eldora in 1988, Doty was left paralyzed from the chest down. Doty, a Millersburg, Ohio native, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2001 and continues to be a staunch promoter of the sport. Tuesday night marks the 29th annual event that started in 1989 at Attica. After a 10-year run at Limaland Motorsports Park, the Brady Doty Classic returned to ARP last year. Donny Schatz charged from his 15th starting spot to take the lead on lap 27 and capture the 40-lap main event. For Schatz, it was his third victory in the Brady Doty Classic, making him the winningest driver in the history of the event.

Big money is on the line over 3 nights of racing in the 34th Annual Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. Thursday night’s Jokers Wild pays $10,000 to win; Friday’s Knight Before the Kings Royals pays $12,000 to win. Saturday night’s Kings Royal will pay $50,000 to win. One year ago, three different drivers found their way to the checkered flag first. David Gravel captured the Jokers Wild, Daryn Pittman took home the Knight Before the Kings Royal and Donny Schatz capped off an impressive week winning the $50,000 prize in the Kings Royal.

What more can a race fan ask for with big money on the line, two great facilities and the world’s best sprint car drivers? If you’re a big time racing fan, these are two events you need to see. If you’re the casual fan or wanting to see what dirt track racing is all about, get out this week and hit one of these shows. I guarantee you’ll keep coming back.
