Show To See

Memorial Day weekend always offers plenty of options and this year is no different. You have two chances to see the Arctic Cat All Star Sprints (Attica and Mansfield) and two opportunities to check out the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models (Atomic and Wayne County). The sprint car show at Fremont Saturday night should also be very entertaining.

The 100 lap modified show at Shadybowl will pay $5,000 to win if they get 35 entries. If that is the case, it will make for some great racing between Saturday and Monday.

As I say every week, get out and support your local track.

NASCAR Announces Schedule Changes

A new look to the track lineup will be showcased during the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Richmond has been added to the playoffs, which will give the series two short tracks in the playoff format for the first time. Richmond will serve as the second race in the playoffs. Charlotte will serve as the first cutoff race, but that isn’t the only change. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will race on the road course oval at Charlotte, marking the first time a road course will be used in the 10 week playoff. With the first cutoff race now slated for Charlotte, Dover will now host the first race in the round of 12. The final regular season race will be held at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the first playoff race in Las Vegas.

Other changes for 2018 include the 60th running of the Daytona 500 going back to its traditional Presidents Day weekend on Sunday, February 18th. Daytona 500 pole qualifying will take place on February 11th. The Camping World Truck Series will join the Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series in Las Vegas for a triple-header weekend March 2nd through the 4th.

Fans in the Buckeye State will again have two options in 2018 to see NASCAR without having to leave the state. The NCWTS will visit Eldora on July 18th, while the NXS will visit Mid-Ohio on August 11th.
