Vikings Victorious against Lake Erie, 79-62

The Vikings returned home to host Lake Erie on Monday at 7:00 PM in the Wolstein Center. The Vikings entered the game at 3-7 thus far on the year following a 71-53 loss to the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday. Lake Erie was 1-12 overall on the year.

Lake Erie trailed by 11 at the end of the first half atop the shoulders of Demonte Flannigan’s 10 points and Ron Edwards going 2-3 from 3-point land. Lake Erie did not visit the free throw line once the entire first half while the Vikings went 6-6 from the line.

As for the second half, Rob Edwards continued to get it done for the Vikings. Edwards scored 17 points, total of 25 and 4 rebounds. Flannigan finished with 12 pointt, Jibri Blount with 11, and Kasheem Thomas led the team in rebounds with 7.

With all-around good team rebounding and defense, CSU was able to hold Lake Erie to such a low score. The bench also showed up for the Vikings with 27 points. Lake Erie’s Mitch Loomis led his team with 12 points.

The Vikings begin Horizon League play on Thursday, Dec. 29th, when CSU hosts Green Bay (the defending Horizon League tournament champions) at 7:00 PM.

CSU continues play on Thursday, Dec. 22, with an 8:00 PM ET tip-off at Belmont.
