BRUNSWICK, OHIO– The Brunswick Blue Devils fell to the Valley Forge Patriots Friday night by a final score of 27-14. Brunswick falls to 0-3 on the season. Valley Forge improves their record to 2-1 on the season.

First quarter highlights: Valley Forge’s DB Michael Miller gets a pick six to give Valley Forge an early 7-0 lead. Brunswick QB Jacob Scherette goes for 16 yards to tie the ballgame at 7. Late in the first, RB Matthias Chmielewski takes the ball to the house for a 46-yard touchdown. Forge would lead Brunswick 14-7 after one quarter.

Second quarter highlights: Chmielewski gets a two-yard touchdown to give the Patriots a 21-7 lead. Brunswick would respond as QB Jacob Scherette goes for 11 yards and bring Brunswick within seven. Forge would lead the Blue Devils 21-14 at the half.

Third quarter highlights: The third quarter lacks some action. Valley Forge recovered a fumble at midfield. Brunswick’s defense would get a quick three and out.

Fourth quarter highlights: You might as well call this the Matthias Chmielewski game. The RB would go to the house one more as he would get a 69-yard touchdown. This would give the Patriots the victory by a final score of 27-14.

The Blue Devils struggled again tonight, though the offense was able to move the ball more frequently. The Devils struggled holding onto the ball between costly penalties, and turnovers. The Devils let this one get away from them.

“Keep working, trying to get better,” Head coach Mark Pinzone said. “Somehow keep our head up high and stick together. We’re going through that right now. We get one part of our game improved, and then the other one falters. We can’t seem to piece it together. We will get back in the morning and find ways to get better.”

Player of the game:

RB Matthias Chmielewski: 3 touchdowns, 117 yards (Please note that this stat is based on scoring plays, not overall total.)
