Seven Browns That Need To Step Up In 2018

6) S Jabrill Peppers
Peppers was one of the most controversial players in last year’s draft. Many found problems with him having a lack of position in college and potentially the NFL. He started at corner at Michigan before moving to safety and eventually linebacker. Some said he was not a playmaker either having just one interception and three sacks his whole career with all of them coming in his final season. Others just didn’t like him because he was from Michigan. I was one of the bigger Peppers fans and I believed he was used horribly last year. He was never a free-ranging safety so playing him 20+ yards from the line of scrimmage made no sense and he was not able to have an impact on a vast majority of plays. It wasn’t until the end of the year when they moved him to box safety that he started to have more of an impact including his first career interception in week 17. He enters the preseason as the starting box safety and returner. Those were the two things he was brought in to do but was not given the opportunity in year one. I would expect him to be one of the breakout players in 2018 if the Browns want success and use his talents appropriately.
