Seven Browns That Need To Step Up In 2018

5) CB Denzel Ward
Speaking of the Ward-Chubb debate, Denzel Ward is absolutely getting thrown into the fire from the start. Corner is one of the toughest positions for rookies to make the jump right away from college. He will be the starting corner day one in a tough division nonetheless. Looking at opposing number one receivers, he will get AJ Green and Antonio Brown for a quarter of his rookie season. Talk about a nightmare. There are few scenarios that stick out as drastically worse. Carolina getting Julio Jones, Mike Evans, and Michael Thomas for six games would be the only one that immediately stands out for me. There is the added pressure from the Browns allowing 64 passing touchdowns over the last two years placing them in the basement of the NFL in that department. Also, Ward will face the local and Ohio State pressure. Playing at home (he went to Nordonia) can be tough since more is expected from you. Ohio State has also produced some big-time talent at the top of the draft recently especially in the secondary. Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Malik Hooker, and Marshon Lattimore have only upped the expectations for Ward to have an impact from day one.
