Rose Namajunas Stuns The MMA World With First Round KO Of Joanna Jedrzejczyk At UFC 217 To Win Title

Rose Namajunas stunned the MMA world tonight with a First Round KO over UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Jedrzejczyk in the first round of their UFC 217 fight to win the championship.  The brutal knockout came at the 3:03 mark of the opening round.

She looked calm and collective from the start, and did everything to perfection to put away the champion with an onslaught of punches and knee’s to put the champion away.  Coming into the fight, Jedrzejczyk was easily making her claim as the greatest female MMA competitor of all time.  She was 14 – 0 and looked untouchable.  Perhaps the rumors of a possible pregnancy earlier this year entered into her head as well, one may never know why she seemingly wasn’t herself tonight.

Her first sign of cracking came late yesterday during the weigh in when he she began to lose her cool during the faceoff as Namajunas stood calmly at the scale and prayed aloud.  It seemed out of character for Joanna and her style tonight also proved to be faulty.

It is tough for a champion to win back to back years at MSG, Jedrzejczyk won last year at UFC 205 from MSG over Karolina Kowalkiewicz in dominant fashion.  It was Kowalkiewicz who beat Rose Namajunas just over a year ago.  since then, Rose has only fought once more and won, over Michelle Waterson which earned her tonight’s title shot.

Before this, the highest profile win Namajunas had on her record was a UFC Fight Night win back in 2015 over Paige VanZant.  Other then that, she was largely unknown, but not anymore!  It took her a little over 3 minutes to become the newest house hold name in MMA.

She will go down with Chris Weidman and Matt Serra as people who pulled off the biggest upsets in MMA History!
