Report: Browns Interested In Signing Former Bills Cornerback E.J. Gaines

The Cleveland Browns are hosting a visit with free-agent cornerback E.J. Gaines on Friday, according to a report from Mike Garafolo. Gaines last played for the Buffalo Bills in 2017.

Gaines, a three-year pro out of the University of Missouri, has appeared in 37 games and has started 36 games. In those contests, he’s compiled three interceptions and 158 tackles.

The good thing about Gaines that stands out is he’s an excellent tackler and can bring down a running back or receiver in open space to stop big runs or touchdowns. That’s something the Browns sorely lacked in the secondary department, as many times the opposition would burn the last wave of Cleveland defenders for easy and sometimes improbable scores.
