Ohio State Announces a Change at Kicker Starting Saturday At Illinois

When the Buckeyes take the field on Saturday they will sport a new look at the kicker spot, as Urban Meyer announced today that Sean Nuernberger will handle the kicking duties starting this weekend at Illinois.

Nuernberger takes the kicking job over after losing it to Jack Willoughby in the preseason.

The sophomore Nuernberger was Ohio State’s kicker last season, but lost the job in a kicking battle with Willoughby, who is a fifth-year graduate transfer from Duke.

Last season Nuerberger was 13 of 20 on field goals, thus far in 2015 Willoughby is 7 of 11 on field goals.

Meyer said Nuernberger won the kicking job back this week in practice on Sunday and Wednesday. The coach did go on to say that Willoughby will still handle kickoffs.
