NEOSI’s “Six Pack of Random”: 4-22-16

So it’s been a crazy few days for the Browns and their fans. Trading the #2 pick in draft! I think I may just be ok with it. I’ll explain in this week’s Six Pack Of Random.

  1. There is two thing that are obvious when it comes to the trade. A) The Browns didn’t like either QB, Wentz or Goff. Or…B) Goff was their guy and the Rams are taking him. I will go with B.
  2. Since their guy is off the board, the Browns went ahead and got a haul for the number two pick in the draft form the Eagles. Like it or not, it is the right move to make. The Browns have way too many holes to fill and even if their first was a QB, it wouldn’t have changed the number in the win column.  Now the Browns have 12 overall picks, 7 in the top 100, to build up the roster. Getting the right players is the only challenge now.
  3. As part of the deal, the Eagles sent next years number one pick. So it’s quite possible the Browns will have two top 15 picks in round one. Possibly enough ammo to  move up to get the top QB if needed.
  4. Now there is a chance, very small chance, that RGIII can return to the form he had in 2012. If that happens, the Browns will not need to draft a QB next year. They have their guy. Again, there is a very SMALL chance that will happen but I hope I am proved wrong. No pressure, No diamonds right?
  5. As far as drafting a QB goes, having 12 picks almost makes it a certainty that the Browns will draft one. Third round is the spot I am looking at.
  6. On to Mock Draft 3.0 and it will look a little different since I am going top 8.
    1. Rams- Jared Goff:  No change from last week.
    2. Eagles- Carson Wentz: Same player different team. You don’t give up so much to not draft a QB.
    3. Chargers- Jalen Ramsey:  The Chargers need to replace Eric Weedle and they do it with the best player in this years draft.
    4. Cowboys- Ezekiel Elliot: The Cowboys cannot pass on the talent Elliot possesses.
    5. Jaguars- Laremy Tunsil: The Jags get the best O-Lineman in the draft to protect Blake Bortles
    6. Ravens- Ronny Stanley: The Ravens need to start protecting Joe Flacco.
    7. 49ers- Joey Bosa:  The Niners have a lot of holes to fill. Getting one of the best defensive lineman will help
    8. Browns- DeForest Buckner:  Perfect DE for Ray Horton’s 3-4 defense.  The Browns may also trade down again. Another question will be, is Joe Thomas a Brown after the draft?

That’s it for this week. I will be posting a special Thursday Six Pack next week with Mock Draft 4.0.  Make sure to follow me and Sports on Tap on Twitter @SOTPodcast. Have a good week!

Cheers!
