How Much Of An Impact Will Hue Jackson Have In His First Season With The Browns?

Fans of the Cleveland Browns have high hopes that former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson can help the struggling organization. Since 1999 the Browns have had 8 different head coaches. While this statistic is just plain embarrassing, some of the former head coaches were too.

It is no secret that the City of Cleveland wants to continue to see progression from their sports teams. The Cavaliers pulled off an unbelievable and extremely impressive come from behind series victory over the Golden State Warriors to earn the city’s first championship in over 50 years.

Here is a question that has been being asked over the last few weeks. Can the new Browns coaching regime with Hue Jackson and the Cavaliers championship give the Browns some hope and success in 2016?

Well it’s simple. You are looking at a Cleveland Browns team that went 3-13 in 2015, a team that lost arguably one of their more talented defensive players in Desmond Bryant, a team that could be without Isaiah Crowell if the league or the organization takes a stand on his whole situation, and lastly, a team that has a very young secondary after the loss of key veterans due to free agency.

When you look at all of those variables you might just wonder if Jackson can become the savior and help this team heal. In several recent interviews, Browns players told the media that they are extremely excited for the upcoming season due to the excitement and passion that is being put into the air from Hue Jackson.

Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey said,

With this whole coaching staff change, it’s been nothing but positive energy throughout the whole building, Kirksey said. They bring a lot of knowledge to the game, a lot of knowledge to us younger players. We can learn a lot from them.

While many Browns fans have experienced horrific losses over the last decade, Hue Jackson and company hope to start a winning formula in his first season as head coach.

The Impact Hue Jackson Will Have on the Browns in 2016:

The Cincinnati Bengals and Hue Jackson have a long rapport together. From 2004-2006 Jackson was the wide receivers coach and a fantastic one at that. In those two years Jackson transformed an underrated group of receivers in Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh and made them one of the most dangerous wide receivers combos in the National Football League. This propelled the Bengals to win their first division title in over a decade.

This season Jackson hopes to use his former wide receiver coaching knowledge to help the four rookie Browns receivers that were selected in this year’s NFL draft. Over the offseason, Chad Johnson contacted Hue Jackson about an open coaching position. He will be coaching during training camp and if Jackson likes what he sees, then he will be hired to help the rookie receivers succeed in 2016.

Jackson’s success does not stop there. After moving around the league for several years the Oakland Raiders hired Jackson to be their head coach for the 2011 NFL season. Just when the season was completed, the organization fired him. He went 8-8, a record that any Browns fan would love to have in 2016.

How does Hue Jackson impact the Cleveland Browns in 2016? He starts to make the players believe they can achieve greatness. This will then start a winning formula in Cleveland that will last for years to come. As linebacker Kirksey said it’s an entirely new atmosphere.

Just recently Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden talked about Jackson and his impact,

Just the way Coach Hue talks to us, the way he makes us feel, man, is just something I’ve never felt since I’ve been in Cleveland, Haden said. “I say this to everybody that asks me, ‘I think Coach Hue is the best thing that’s happened since I’ve been here.’ So everything’s going in the right direction.

Going in the right direction is what needs to happen when Hue Jackson is in Cleveland. If Jackson wins 6 games in 2016, then so be it. Let’s just hope the organization gives him the time to make this team head in the right direction. The Browns organization has a tendency to fire coaches after just one season. The most recent coach that survived more than one was Mike Pettine, and he was a two year “project”. This organization has the ability to start winning football games under Hue Jackson BUT… he needs to be given some time.

In my honest opinion, if the Browns and Hue Jackson can win atleast 6 football games in 2016, then fans should be happy. It’s an improvement from 2015 and with younger athletes on the horizon, time and experience might just help them succeed in another year or two.
